Purpose: The purpose of the meeting is to gather public input on the proposed mobility improvements for approximately 17 miles of SH 6 from 1,200 feet west of FM 521 to the Galveston county line in Fort Bend and Brazoria counties. The proposed project would improve safety and improve traffic operations at the intersections.

Description: The proposed project includes:
  • Converting the existing continuous left turn lane (flush median) to raised medians
  • Improving the intersections at FM 1128 (Masters Road), Brazos/Second Street, Business 35 (Gordon Street) and SH 35 Bypass to include turn lanes and traffic signal improvements

No changes are proposed to the drainage system or posted speed limits. One commercial business would be displaced and approximately 0.56-acre of new right-of-way would be acquired.

The environmental review, consultation and other actions required by applicable federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried out by TxDOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated Dec. 16, 2014, and executed by FHWA and TxDOT.
