Notice of Availability - McHard Road

Purpose:

This notice advises the public that TxDOT has issued a finding of no significant impact (FONSI) for the proposed McHard Road Extension project from Cullen Boulevard to Mykawa Road in Brazoria County, Texas.

Description:

The proposed McHard Road would include:

  • Adding an 4 lane divided roadway on new location with an urban cross-section
  • Adding a curb-and-gutter roadway within a typical 120-foot ROW with an 18-foot raised median

Each travel lane would be 11 feet wide with 1-foot curb offsets and a 10-foot-wide shared pedestrian/bicycle path. The proposed roadway would have median openings and left turn lanes as required. The project would also include three storm water detention ponds.

To avoid noise impacts that may result from future development adjacent to a proposed highway project, a traffic noise analysis is included in the final EA, which includes predicted noise impact contours for currently undeveloped areas. These impact contours are intended as a general guide to assist local planning officials and developers plan and construct new activities in locations that would not result in traffic noise impacts. On the date of approval/clearance of an EA/FONSI (including the traffic noise analysis) for a proposed highway project, TxDOT is no longer responsible for providing noise abatement for new development.

Copies of the approved final EA and FONSI are available for public inspection at:

TxDOT’s Houston District Office
