Public Hearing - FM 521 in Fort Bend and Harris Counties

Purpose: The purpose of the public hearing  is to gather public input on the proposed roadway widening and improvements to Farm-to-Market Road 521 (Almeda Road) from Beltway 8 to FM 2234 (McHard Road) in Harris and Fort Bend counties.
   
Description: The proposed project will:
  • Reconstruct and widen FM 521 to a four-lane divided urban roadway from Beltway 8 to south of FM 2234
  • Improve FM 2234 by constructing proposed "grade separations;" this means FM 2234 will be elevated and will cross over FM 521 at the Missouri Pacific Railroad crossings
The proposed project is expected to improve safety, enhance mobility and accommodate current and future growth, and improve railroad/local traffic crossings. Approximately 13.2 acres of additional right of way (ROW) and one business relocation would be required for the proposed project.

The public is encouraged to attend the open house and provide verbal comments after the formal presentation. Submit verbal and written comments on or before June 24, 2014. Visit the FM 521 project page for more information.
