Notice Affording Opportunity for Public Hearing - FM 359 and US 90A

Purpose: TxDOT in partnership with the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) is offering the opportunity to request a public hearing covering the social, economic and environmental effects of the proposed construction of a grade-separated intersection (an elevated intersection) at the Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR) crossing at FM 359 and US 90A in Fort Bend County.

Description: Proposed improvements include:
  • Two-lane, two-way access roads along the bridge between Blaisdale Road and US 90A
  • Five-foot sidewalks throughout segment
  • Four 12.5-foot-wide travel lanes with 8-foot wide traffic barrier and 4-foot outside shoulders
  • Retaining walls
  • Traffics light at intersection
  • At-grade U-turn lane added below the bridge north of UPRR
  • Ten-foot wide at-grade railroad crossing (not elevated); this will be a “shared use” crossing and the U-turn sidewalk will be connected to the northern sidewalk beneath the bridge
Along US 90A, the proposed right of way would be 175 to 205 feet.

The environmental review, consultation, and other actions required by applicable federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried-out by TxDOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated Dec. 16, 2014, and executed by FHWA and TxDOT.
