Public Hearing - SH 31 Relief Route

Purpose: The purpose of the public hearing is to present the anticipated social, economic and environmental effects of the proposed construction of the State Highway (SH) 31 Relief Route in Navarro County. The scope is from 2.5 miles west of FM 2555 to 3.2 miles east of IH 45.

An open house will be held from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. to allow for questions and review of project exhibits. The formal public hearing presentation will begin at 7 p.m. followed by a public comment period.

Description: Proposed improvements include the following:
  • Grade separation at the intersection of I-45 and the relief route, and converting existing two-way frontage roads to one way
  • Construction of a four-lane freeway with continuous frontage roads around the southern side of Corsicana
  • Mainlanes would consist of two 12-foot-wide lanes, a 4-foot-wide inside shoulder and 10-foot-wide outside shoulders
  • Frontage roads would consist of one 12-foot-wide lane and one 14-foot wide lane with a 4-foot-wide inside shoulder
  • Approximately 684 acres of additional right of way would be needed but the project would result in no residential or commercial displacements
