The Texas Department of Transportation will host an open house to present the proposed widening improvements for SH 289 from 1,000 feet north of Grayson CR 60 (Grayson County line) to BS 289C in Collin and Grayson counties. Staff will be available to answer questions. No formal presentation will be conducted so interested citizens can come and go at their convenience.

The proposed improvements for SH 289 would include reconstructing and widening approximately 2.44-mile segment of the existing two-lane undivided roadway facility to an urban four-lane divided highway. The proposed improvements would consist of one 12-foot-wide travel lane, one 14-foot-wide outside shared-use lane, a one-foot curb offset and a 42 foot raised median. Eleven-foot left and/or right-turn lanes would be constructed at major intersections and median openings. The sidewalk will be constructed by others outside of TxDOT right of way per City of Celina ordinance.

The environmental review, consultation and other actions required by applicable Federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried out by TxDOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated Dec. 16, 2014, and executed by FHWA and TxDOT.
