Purpose:

Proposed improvements to I-30 would reconstruct and/or widen this highway from Bass Pro Road in Dallas County to west of FM 2642 in Rockwall County, approximately 17 miles through the Cities of Garland, Rowlett, Rockwall, Mobile City, Fate, and Royse City. Transportation improvements are needed on I-30 to address current and projected traffic demands and facility deficiencies, and to establish a safe and efficient thoroughfare by which to provide goods and services in the eastern portion of Dallas‐Fort Worth (DFW). The proposed improvements include widening from 4 to 6 lanes from west of State Highway (SH) 205 to west of FM 2642; widening from 6 to 8 lanes from Bass Pro Drive to west of SH 205; construction of new frontage roads from Bass Pro Drive to Horizon Road (including bridge structures across Lake Ray Hubbard); bicycle and pedestrian facilities across Lake Ray Hubbard; and ramp and interchange construction and reconfiguration in the project corridor. Additional right of way is anticipated to be required along this segment of I-30.
