Purpose:
To present the planned improvements for FM 3549 from I-30 to north of SH 66 in the cities of Fate and Rockwall, Rockwall County, Texas, and to receive public comment.
Description:
The proposed project would widen this section of FM 3549 from two to four lanes with one 12-foot-wide travel lane; one 14-foot-wide outside lane to accommodate bicycles; one-foot-wide inside and two-foot outside offsets to a concrete curb; and five-foot-wide sidewalks in each direction separated by an 18-foot-wide raised median. The median would accommodate additional left-turn lanes which would be provided at select intersections. The proposed typical right of way (ROW) width would be 120 feet.
The purpose of the proposed project is to provide capacity for ongoing suburbanization, improve the efficiency of FM 3549, and to eliminate safety issues created by a lack of left-turn lanes. The proposed improvements would require approximately 4.322 acres of additional ROW, 0.553 acre for a drainage easement, and 0.172 acre for a construction easement. The proposed project would displace one residence and a barn.

Relocation assistance is available for displaced persons and businesses.
