TxDOT invites citizens to an open house for the Central 7-Mile Comprehensive Project (Central7). Attendees will be able to review materials, ask questions and submit comments.

If you are unable to attend the meeting in person but would like to learn more about the project or submit a question or comment, please visit our online virtual open house between Sept. 20 and Oct. 19, 2016.

Those who have special communication or accommodation needs are encouraged to call Rachel Lunceford at (512) 872-7137 at least three business days prior to the open house. Every reasonable effort will be made to accommodate these needs.

The purpose of the Central7 project is to improve safety and mobility for all users of I-35 while minimizing right-of-way, community and environmental impacts and to provide a reliable travel time for cars and bus transit using the express lanes.

The Central7 project would add an express lane in each direction of I-35 and address all remaining safety and mobility improvements proposed under the Mobility35 Program that are not included in a series of stand-alone projects between US 183 and Riverside Drive. Two alternatives are being considered: a build alternative consisting of express lanes with direct transit accommodation with the option to lower I-35 near downtown, and a no-build alternative.
