Purpose: TxDOT, in cooperation with the Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority, will host a public hearing for the SH 71 Express Project. The purpose of the public hearing is to discuss the proposed improvements and receive public input on the proposed project.

Verbal or written comments may be presented at the public hearing. Written comments not submitted at the public hearing may be submitted at SH71Express.

All comments must be received no later than Friday, April 11, 2014.The public hearing will be conducted in English. Persons interested in attending the public hearing who have special communication or accommodation needs should call (512) 832-7218 at least 10 business days prior to the public hearing so that appropriate arrangements may be made. TxDOT will make every reasonable effort to accommodate communication or accessibility needs.
   
Description: Proposed improvements include the following:
  • Constuct two new toll lanes (one in each direction) from Presidential Boulevard to SH 130
  • Build an overpass at Farm-to-Market Road (FM) 973
  • Construct a bridge over SH 130
  • Connect ramps between the new toll lanes and the existing travel lanes of SH 71 and SH 130
  • Widen SH 71 between Presidential Boulevard and FM 973
  • Construct a turnaround on westbound SH 71 at Presidential Boulevard for eastbound access
  • Constuct Bicycle and pedestrian paths on the north and south sides of SH 71
