Purpose:
The purpose of the public meeting is to gather public input on the proposed replacement of bridges along I-40 at Whitaker Road, SL 335 and FM 1258. An open house will begin at 6 p.m. and will provide information and display exhibits related to the project. During the open house portion, citizens may come and go at their convenience and TxDOT staff will be available to answer questions. A short presentation by TxDOT staff will be conducted at 6:30 p.m. and the open house will reconvene after the presentation.
Description:
Proposed improvements include the following:
- Bridge replacements along I-40 at Whitaker Road, SL 335 and FM 1258;
- Roadway improvements consisting of overlay work on eastbound and westbound main lanes from Nelson Street to the US 287 split;
- Reversal of the westbound ramps between Spur 468 (Airport Drive/Juett Attebury Drive) and Whitaker Road; and
- Ramp profile modifications of the remaining ramps.
Project length is approximately 6.2 miles. The proposed project is needed to address traffic operations, mobility and safety along this portion of I-40.
All interested persons are invited to attend this public meeting. The public meeting will be conducted in English. Persons interested in attending the meeting who have special communication or accommodation needs, or need an interpreter, are encouraged to call (806) 356-3249 no later than two days prior to the public meeting. TxDOT will make every reasonable effort to accommodate these needs.
Verbal and written comments from the public regarding the proposed bridge replacement project are encouraged. Comments may be presented either at the meeting or in writing after the meeting. Written statements may be mailed and postmarked no later than 15 calendar days following the meeting (Wednesday, April 19, 2017) to the address below.
The environmental review, consultation and other actions required by applicable federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been carried-out by TxDOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated December 16, 2014, and executed by the Federal Highway Administration and TxDOT.
