Miami, TX 79059 (Map)

When:

Tuesday, March 7, 2017
6-8 p.m. Open House
6:30 p.m. Presentation

Purpose:

The purpose of the public meeting is to gather public input on the proposed replacement of the Red Deer Creek Bridge on FM 282 from just west of the Water Street Intersection to just west of the Hayes Street Intersection at the Red Deer Creek crossing, in Miami.

Description:

The proposed project involves the replacement of the existing 34.5 foot-wide, 10-span, 254 foot-long steel beam bridge constructed in 1959 with a 42 foot-wide, 4-span, 264 foot-long pre-stressed concrete girder bridge. Less than 0.5 acre of additional right of way on the north side of the bridge location will be needed for the new bridge construction, but no commercial or residential displacements will be required.

An open house will begin at 6 p.m. and will provide information and display exhibits related to the project. A short presentation by TxDOT personnel will be conducted at 6:30 p.m. and the open house will reconvene after the presentation.

All interested persons are invited to attend this public meeting. The public meeting will be conducted in English. Persons interested in attending the meeting who have special communication or accommodation needs, or need an interpreter, are encouraged to call (806) 356-3249 no later than two days prior to the public meeting. TxDOT will make every reasonable effort to accommodate these needs.

Verbal and written comments from the public regarding the proposed bridge replacement project are encouraged. Comments may be presented either at the meeting or in writing after the meeting. Written statements may be mailed and postmarked no later than 15 calendar days following the meeting (Wednesday, March 22, 2017) to the address below.

The environmental review, consultation, and other actions required by applicable federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried out by TxDOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated Dec. 16, 2014, and executed by FHWA and TxDOT.
