Public Meeting - US 84/BUS I-20 Bridge Closure and Traffic Detour

| Purpose: | The Texas Department of Transportation is seeking comments from the public about the closure of US 84/BUS I-20 bridge for repairs. The bridge closure will involve a traffic detour for eastbound traffic exiting I-20 to travel into Abilene. | ||
| Description: | The project consists of closing the Bus I-20 bridge over the Union Pacific Railroad tracks and Old Bankhead Highway for replacement and widening. Abilene-bound traffic would be diverted to FM 3438 for the duration of the project, which is expected to begin in the spring of 2015 and last 12 months. Exhibits and maps of the proposed project and detour will be on display beginning at 1 p.m. until the beginning of the meeting at 6 p.m. Members of TxDOT staff will be available to answer questions and take comments prior to the beginning of the meeting. A presentation of the proposed project will begin at 6 p.m. There will be an opportunity at the conclusion of the presentation for the public to comment either orally or in writing. The public is encouraged to attend this meeting and provide comments. Those not able to attend the meeting may view the information, which will be located at the Abilene Area Office and the Abilene District Office, 4250 N. Clack in Abilene. Written comments by email or postal mail will be accepted until 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 5, 2014. |
