Hamilton St. entrance ramp and new shared use path
FEIS approved
These proposed changes will allow motorists to enter a non-tolled road instead of the SH 288 toll lanes and improve connectivity to the Emancipation Trail network.
Proposed changes*
2.) Change location of the Hamilton St. entrance ramp so it allows motorists access to the SH 288 southbound general purpose lanes instead of taking them to the SH 288 southbound toll lanes
Required to separate I-45 NHHIP from toll road, and provide opportunity for option to stay on general purpose lanes based on time of day pricing of SH 288 managed lanes
- Avoids merging conditions across SH 288 general purpose lanes and provides future potential direct connection to SH 288 managed toll lanes
3.) Add a Shared Use Path along the I-69 northbound to SH 288 southbound direct connector. This improves connectivity to the Emancipation Trail network and Emancipation Park east of SH 288
4.) Close the driveway on an Alabama St. property due to the proximity of the property to the proposed SH 288 northbound frontage road.
*NEPA reevaluations will be performed as needed when proposed changes deviate from the FEIS
Alabama Street over I-69
Proposed changes*
5.) Increase the Alabama St. eastbound pedestrian area from 10’ to 17’.
Provides enhanced bicycle-pedestrian realm on both sides with 5-foot buffer, 5-foot bike land, and 7-foot sidewalk
Would not require any additional right-of-way
SH 288 Reconstruction over Blodgett
FEIS approved
These proposed changes will make it easier for motorists to enter and exit SH 288 southbound
Proposed changes*
Extend SH 288 Southbound
6.) Extend SH 288 Southbound from the I-69 northbound entrance ramp to the Southmore Blvd. exit ramp. This provides a full lane between the entrance and exit ramp, making it easier for motorists to exit and enter the roadway.
