Section 1: Traffic Monitoring System
Overview
Traffic monitoring is the collection and analysis of traffic
data to quantify and assess the use and performance of the roadway
system. A comprehensive, interdependent system of continuous counter
operations and short-term traffic monitoring yields analyzed traffic
data that is fair and unbiased for use by a wide variety of internal
and external customers.
The Texas Traffic Monitoring System complies with
(CFR), which sets forth
the requirements for development, establishment, implementation,
and continued operation of a traffic monitoring system.
