Design Bid Build:
TxDOT employs design
bid
build project delivery method when
:- District designs the project in house or hires a consultant to design the PS&E.
- Construction Division (CST) assists in letting the project to a contractor.
- Contractor constructs project after approval from Texas Transportation Commission.
Design Build: Larger
construction projects
where a single contractor is hired to both design and build the
project on an accelerated schedule.Comprehensive Development Agreements (CDAs) may also be
used
as
a form of design build project delivery. CDAs may include provisions
for a developer to operate and
maintain the facility
upon completion of the project.As of 2021, Union Pacific Railroad will only enter
into PELOA and C&M agreement with TxDOT and not with the developer
of a design-build project.
