Diskettes require the following steps:

  • To clean and dry, do the following:
    • Drain.
    • Remove from jackets.
    • Rinse in distilled water.
    • Blot with lint-free cloth.
    • Air-dry approximately eight hours.
  • When diskettes are dry, do the following:
    • Insert into a new jacket.
    • Copy information on damaged diskettes onto new diskettes.
    • If information copies correctly, discard damaged diskettes.
    • Clean copy equipment drive heads frequently to prevent permanent damage to the heads.
