This manual documents policy on bridge design in Texas. It assists Texas bridge designers in applying provisions documented in the AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications, to which designers should adhere unless directed otherwise by this document.

Updates consist of the following: Chapter 3, Section 2 revised requirements for empirical deck design. Chapter 3, Section 18 revised requirements for the submittal of prefabricated superstructure alternatives. Chapter 4, Section 2 revised the reference to the latest

Geotechnical Manual-LRFD

. Chapter 4, Section 6 revised the submittal and approval for steel straddle bent caps. Chapter 4, Section 11 revised requirements for the submittal of precast and prefabricated substructure alternatives. Chapter 5, Section 2 revised load factor on temperature.

This revision supersedes version 2023-1 (January 2023).
