The proposed project would replace the existing two-span steel girder and floor beam bridge carrying Acorn Drive over Waggoner Creek. The proposed project would also reconstruct the existing undivided two-lane roadway for 150 feet beyond each end of the proposed bridge, and add four-foot shoulders. Metal beam guard fence (MBGF) would be installed on each side of the roadway at each end of the bridge. Mow strip would be installed along the length of MBGF. The proposed project would occur within approximately 0.61 acre of existing ROW and 0.04 acre of proposed ROW.
The proposed project area totals approximately 0.65 acre.
The proposed bridge replacement project at Waggoner Creek would extend for a total of 473 feet northwest-southeast along Acorn Drive, from 0.08 mile south of the intersection of US 380 and Acorn Drive to 0.17 mile south of the intersection of US 380 and Acorn Drive, in Wise County, Texas. The proposed project area comprises approximately 0.65 acre, including approximately 0.61 acre of existing Acorn Drive right-of-way (ROW) and approximately 0.04 acre of proposed ROW. The proposed ROW includes two narrow strips on either side of Acorn Drive, centered on the Waggoner Creek bridge. Both areas of proposed ROW are adjacent to and paralleling the existing ROW, and each encompasses an area approximately 130 feet (north-south) by 5 feet (east-west). Proposed ROW would include areas of three separate parcels.
The existing steel girder and floor beam bridge with a corrugated metal deck would be replaced with a 75-foot long by 34-foot wide single span prestressed concrete girder bridge with a concrete cast-in-place deck that meets current design standards. The proposed Acorn Drive facility would be reconstructed for 150 feet beyond each end of the bridge. The proposed facility would be a two-lane undivided rural minor collector roadway with one 12-foot northbound lane, one 12-foot southbound lane, and four-foot shoulders. The proposed lanes would be narrowed to transition into the existing facility at each end. Metal beam guard fence (MBGF) would be installed on each side of the roadway, transitioning into the bridge rail on both ends of the bridge. MBGF would extend 96 feet beyond the south end of the bridge rail on the northbound side, 36.5 feet beyond the south end of the bridge rail on the southbound side, 28 feet beyond the north end of the bridge rail on the northbound side and 25 feet beyond the north end of the bridge rail on the southbound side. Mow strip would be installed along the full length of MBGF. The proposed Acorn Drive ROW would vary from 50-60 feet, with approximately 50 feet of existing ROW and 10 feet of new ROW at the widest point.
