Are there plans to relocate the railroad outside the city?

No. The Bryan-College Station Metropolitan Planning Organization (BCS MPO) consulted with a firm to study the possibility of relocating the UPRR through the community. That option was rejected when a consensus on an acceptable route could not be reached. Therefore, the railroad will remain in place.

What additional land will be needed for this project?

The proposed design improves capacity with less new land required than other alternative designs. The new land to be acquired for the interchange is shown on the project layout.

How does this proposed design improve safety?

Currently, trains, vehicles and pedestrians all share use of the intersection. Under the planned design, all modes of travel will be separated by bridges.

When will construction begin?

No target construction date has been set at this time.
