Jefferson Grimes serves as director of Public Involvement.
Under the direction of the chief communications officer, Grimes manages and directs the development of policy, procedures and guidance for the agency, supporting the goal of ensuring more meaningful public involvement. The office serves as a resource to agency districts, divisions and offices on public engagement activities associated with project development and planning.
Grimes previously served the agency as deputy director of the Government and Public Affairs Division from 2007 through 2011. In that position, he was primarily responsible for state legislative and Congressional affairs. In addition, Grimes worked on matters pertaining to media relations, international relations, internal communications, marketing and administrative issues. He has been instrumental in overseeing agency Sunset and performance reviews.
Prior to this he managed TxDOT's state legislative affairs. Grimes has also worked in the agency's Beaumont and Odessa Districts and has experience in municipal government and as a consultant. He is a graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches.
