Cars. Texas has plenty of 'em. In a state this size, it's natural that personal vehicles have become the predominant mode of everyday transportation. Texans rely heavily on their cars, and primary among TxDOT's responsibilities are Texans' vehicles and the roads on which they travel.

TxDOT works in many ways, great and small, to make car travel in Texas as safe and easy as possible. From long-range highway planning to promoting seat belt use to providing safe, modern rest facilities, TxDOT remains tightly focused on the safety and convenience of the Texas driver.
