Bicycle and pedestrian improvements are generally eligible for funding from state and federal transportation programs, either as part of roadway improvements or as stand-alone projects.

Local Programs

Urban bicycle and pedestrian projects may be eligible for a number of federal funding sources through a Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO). Bicycle/pedestrian projects may also be constructed by cities or counties using local funding sources. Check with your local government or MPO to learn more.
