PARIS – Texas Department of Transportation officials today announced that the turnaround closure project on Southeast Loop 286 in Paris is slated to begin July 16.
The contractor, East Texas Bridge Inc., was granted 29 working days, weather permitting, to complete this safety improvement project valued at more than $375,000. The contractor anticipates setting construction barricades in the work zone on July 15 and beginning work on July 16, officials said.
The turnaround located directly across from the United Pentecostal Church will be removed in response to requests from the City of Paris and local businesses to minimize vehicle collisions in this area. At the same time, the contractor will lengthen the left turn lane on the loop that serves the Dawn Drive crossover.
Access to adjacent properties will be maintained while this safety improvement project is underway. The roadway will remain open to traffic at all times, but temporary lane closures will be in place for the duration of the work. Officials requested that drivers observe a reduced speed limit of 50 mph when traveling through this work zone.
Those who travel regularly in this area should also remain alert and pay special attention to all signs, barricades and traffic controls they may encounter. They should also avoid distractions such as cell phones, eating, drinking, or car audio or navigation systems.
