PARIS – TxDOT officials today announced that a landscaping project along State Highway 56 in Whitesboro, Texas, is slated to begin in early July.

Old Firehouse Gym LLC, Denison, Texas, was granted 30 working days to complete this scenic enhancement project valued at more than $100,000, officials said. The contractor plans to begin placing construction signs at the end of June, and the target completion date for this project is September 2018, weather permitting.

The contractor will work on curbs and gutters, sidewalks, and curb ramps, plant new vegetation, and install irrigation for the plants. This landscape project will extend along SH 56 from North Union Street to Center Street in Whitesboro, officials said.

Motorists who travel through this area are asked to pay special attention to all signs, barricades and traffic controls, and reduce their speed as they approach and travel cautiously through work zones. They should also avoid distractions such as cell phones, eating, drinking, or car audio or navigation systems. Pedestrians who frequent this area should also exercise care while this work is underway.
