PARIS – Texas Department of Transportation officials today announced that work to repair and upgrade US 271 in Lamar and Red River Counties is scheduled to begin April 18.

The contractor, RK Hall LLC, Paris, Texas, was granted 96 working days to complete this project valued at more than $6.4 million. The contractor plans to place construction signs on April 16, and the target date for completion of this work is August 2018, weather permitting, officials said.

The work will extend along US 271 from State Loop 286 in Paris, Texas, southeastward to State Highway 37 in Red River County. Crews will perform full-depth asphalt repairs, improve guardrails, overlay the entire width of the roadway, and place new pavement markings. This project will require temporary lane closures at times, officials said.

Motorists who frequently travel US 271 in Lamar and Red River Counties are asked to remain alert and pay special attention to all signs, barricades and traffic controls, and reduce their speed as they approach and travel through work zones. They should also avoid distractions such as cell phones, eating, drinking, or car audio or navigation systems.
