MIDLAND – A project to make improvements for bicyclists and pedestrians in an area of Midland began this month.

Marking bike lanes and making sidewalk improvements will be a large part of the work. Some short-term lane closures will be necessary as work is done. Access to homes and businesses will be maintained as much as possible through the life of the project.

The work area is bordered by Texas Avenue on the south and Louisiana Avenue on the north. It is bordered by Colorado Street to the west and Weatherford Street to the east.

Encino Landscape of Cleveland, Texas won the job with a low bid of $834,326. The job is funded through the federal government. The grant was given to the City of Midland through an application process.
