A pre-construction meeting was held Thursday in the Livingston Area Office signaling the beginning of a new construction project in Polk County.

Crews will begin work in the coming days on US 59 to repair bridges at Alexander Creek and McCardell Slough, south of Goodrich. Work will include bridge maintenance, concrete deck repairs, substructure and erosion repairs, joint sealing, cleaning and painting.

SCR Civil Construction LLC, based in Richmond, TX, will serve as contractor for the $1.5 million project that is expected to be completed by September 2020, weather permitting. Traffic control will be in place during work hours.

As this project begins, motorists are urged to reduce speed in the area, obey all traffic control and stay alert for moving equipment and workers near the lanes of traffic.
