Texas Transportation Commissioners last week approved more than $817.3 million in new construction projects statewide, with $6.8 million approved for the Lufkin District. Commissioners also approved more than $33.6 million is maintenance contracts, with $3.3 million approved for the Lufkin District.
Shelby, San Augustine and Sabine counties were approved for a $3.3 million construction project. Gibson & Assoc. Inc., Balch Springs, TX will serve as contractor for the project that includes:
US 59 in Polk County was approved for a $1.5 million construction project. SCR Civil Construction LLC, Richmond, TX will serve as contractor for the project that includes:
Lake Livingston State Park in Polk County was approved for a $1.9 million construction project designed to rehabilitate the roadways, campsite pullouts and camping areas with the application of an asphalt overlay in Pin Oak and Hercules camping areas. Drewery Construction, Nacogdoches, TX will serve as contractor for the project.

As these construction projects begin, motorists are urged to stay alert, obey all traffic control and reduce speed in and near a work zone. Pre-construction meetings will be held in coming days to determine timelines for each project.
