Night work began in downtown Lufkin Tuesday and is scheduled to continue through mid-month as crews resurface the roadway on Frank Street/SH 94.
Work is scheduled from 8 pm to 6 am nightly from Timberland Drive/BU 59 to Herndon Street in Lufkin and is expected to be completed by Sept. 14, weather permitting. Moore Brothers, Lufkin, is contractor for the $286,764 construction project that includes applying a thin overlay to the surface of the roadway.
Motorists will be detoured into a single lane of traffic on both east and west sides of the roadway. Motorists are urged to reduce speed and respect all traffic control devices in place during the work hours. Motorists should expect alternating lane closures as work progresses and are urged to stay alert as they travel in and near the work zone during the night hours.
This construction project is designed to improve the roadway and enhance the safety of the traveling public. All work schedules are subject to change in inclement weather.
