A pre-construction meeting was held Thursday in the Lufkin Area Office, signaling the beginning of a new construction project in Houston and Angelina counties.
Barricades are being set for the project that is scheduled to begin next week on SH 19, from 1.6 miles north of FM 231 to the Trinity County line in Houston County; on FM 326, from SH 103 to FM 1475 in Angelina County; and from FM 1336, from 1.8 miles west of FM 324 to FM 324, also in Angelina County. The project includes improving guardrail to design standards and safety treating fixed objects.
AR Brothers, San Augustine, TX, will serve as contractor for the project that should be completed in 15 months, weather permitting. Project costs total $429,597 on SH 19 in Houston County, $138,289 on FM 326 in Angelina County, and $309,874 on FM 1336 in Angelina County.
As this project begins, motorists are urged to reduce speed through the work areas. Delays and/or single lanes of traffic may be encountered. Traffic control will be in place, and drivers should be alert to moving equipment and workers near the roadway. Traffic fines double when workers are present.
