A pre-construction meeting was held in the Livingston Area Office in Polk County Thursday, signaling the beginning of a new construction project.
Barricades will be set on June 5 on US 59, between Livingston and Goodrich from 1.9 miles north of SL 393 North to just north of SL 293 in Polk County. Work is expected to begin the following week, weather permitting. The project will consist of applying a permeable friction course to repel water and reduce road noise in the northbound lanes and continuing for 1.7 miles.
Smith & Co., Conroe, TX, will serve as contractor for the $575,884 construction project. A completion date has not been set. Work will be confined to northbound lanes and traffic control will be in place with daily lane closures.
As this work begins, motorists should be alert to moving equipment and workers near the lane of travel. This is an active TxDOT work zone. Motorists should obey all traffic control devices, reduce speed and prepare for delays.
