LUBBOCK – The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is scheduled to close Upland Avenue, from the Marsha Sharp Freeway (MSF) westbound frontage road to 66th Street, to traffic beginning Thursday, Nov. 9. The closure will allow Lubbock & Western Railroad to safely widen the railroad crossing in preparation for roadway improvements to Upland Avenue.
The westbound MSF frontage road will remain open to motorists but drivers will not be able to turn north onto Upland.
Northbound Upland traffic will be detoured around the work area at the westbound MSF frontage road and routed to Alcove Avenue, then to 66th Street to reconnect with Upland. Southbound Upland motorists will also be directed to use 66th Street and Alcove to connect with the westbound MSF frontage road then 82nd Street to Upland Avenue.
Access to Upland is expected to remain restricted through Nov. 17.
