Houston – The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will be pouring the foundation for the elevated bridge and constructing columns on the I-610/West Loop southbound Frontage Road from Memorial Drive to Woodway Drive as work on the elevated dedicated bus lane continues. The I-610 West Loop southbound Frontage Road from Memorial Drive to Woodway Drive will close at midnight, Saturday, March 16. This closure will be in effect until summer of 2019.
During this closure, crews will be working under and on both sides of the Frontage Road to set the foundation to support the elevated bridge structure. Drivers can detour this closure by turning left at Memorial Drive, left at Picnic Lane, another left onto Memorial Dr. traveling west and taking the Woodway split back to I-610 West Loop.
The I-610 West Loop Dedicated Bus Lane project aims to improve mobility and safety by adding dedicated right of way and separating buses from general traffic to help reduce congestion on I-610/West Loop. This TxDOT project will work in tandem with the dedicated bus lane project under construction by the City of Houston and Uptown Management District, which is already underway from I-610/West Loop to Richmond.
