Saginaw — Construction will begin next week on Farm to Market 156 (Blue Mound Road) from McLeroy Boulevard/Watauga Road to US 287. The $48.6 million project will reconstruct the existing two-lane roadway to a four-lane roadway with raised curb medians and left-turn bays, upgrade drainage with curb and gutters, and add sidewalks and shared use lanes. The 3.8-mile project will relieve congestion and enhance safety and mobility for motorists in this developing corridor.
During construction, lane closures will be scheduled during off-peak hours to minimize impact to motorists.
The project was awarded to Webber, LLC., and it is estimated for completion in 2023.
Last year, distracted driving crashes caused 400 deaths, so TxDOT is urging all drivers to put their phones down and keep their heads up while driving through this project.
