Arlington – Construction on a mill and overlay project will begin this week in Arlington on Farm to Market 157 (Collins/Cooper Street) and State Highway 180 (Division Street). FM 157 will be improved from Interstate 30 to SH 180 and through the University of Texas at Arlington campus. SH 180 will be improved from Fielder Road to State Highway 360. Closures will be scheduled during non-peak hours Sunday through Thursday nights to minimize impact to motorists.

The overlay is part of the $6.4 million project to improve mobility and safety by the removal of the existing pavement, repairing the roadway and overlaying it with a new asphalt surface. The seven mile project was awarded to Austin Bridge & Road, LP. and is estimated for completion later this year.

Safety is a top priority at TxDOT and the foundation for the agency’s planning, building and maintaining of projects across the state. When driving through a work zone, motorists are encouraged to: slow down, pay attention, avoid distractions such as cell phones and plan ahead.
