Turnarounds and permanent traffic signals will improve traffic flow

HUDSON OAKS – To accommodate the newly converted one-way I-20 frontage roads, the I-20/Farm to Market Road 5 (Mikus Road) intersection will be reconstructed to include turnarounds and permanent traffic signals.

The I-20 east and westbound frontage roads were converted to one-way between Hudson Oaks Drive and FM 5 in April. The change was made to improve safety and mobility in this growing area of Parker County.

Work on the $4 million reconstruction project is set to begin in June and is estimated for completion in 2019. Drivers should expect lane closures during the course of the project.

Safety is a top priority at TxDOT, and the foundation for the agency’s planning, building and maintaining of projects across the state. When driving through a work zone, some simple steps to take are: slow down, pay attention, avoid distractions such as cell phones, be patient, and plan ahead.

TxDOT appreciates the patience of motorists, and encourages attention to all warning signs within the construction work zone while crews work diligently to complete this work as quickly and as safely as possible.
