MOTLEY COUNTY – The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is scheduled to close a portion of FM 94, from approximately 7 miles south of Northfield to the Middle Pease River, in early January. The closure will allow project contractor Gilvin-Terrill Ltd. to continue work to eliminate curves and realign the roadway.

The work and extended closure is set to begin on Jan. 7, and it is expected to continue for several months. Various detour route options are planned for traffic during the closure. Drivers will be able to use US 62/70, US 62/83, and FM 1140 to bypass the area. Message boards will be placed to notify motorists of the road closure and detour ahead conditions.

Local traffic will continue to have access to FM 94 but will not be able to cross the active work zone.

The planned work is part of a $7.5 million safety project to make improvements to the roadway. This includes realigning and widening the roadway and placing a new road surface. Completion date for the project is set for mid-summer 2019.

Work will take place, weather permitting.
