CHILDRESS – TxDOT will begin a project on June 13 to add safety features to various highways in the Childress District.
This $422,372 project will consist of installing rumble strips on the center line in some locations to help prevent crossover crashes and on shoulders to prevent run-off-the-road crashes.
This is a mobile operation, and the contractor, Texas Panhandle Construction Inc., will use advance signs on the roadway. Motorists should slow down when in the work zone and watch for slow-moving construction equipment.
Highways scheduled to receive rumble strips are:
|Briscoe||SH 86||Swisher County line to FM 3030|
|Briscoe||SH 86||FM 3030 east for 12 miles|
|Briscoe||SH 86||12 miles east of FM 3030 to the Hall County line|
|Briscoe||SH 256||SH 86 east to SH 70|
|Childress||US 62||Cottle County line to FM 164|
|Collingsworth||FM 338||US 83 east to the Oklahoma state line|
|Collingsworth||FM 1056||FM 1547 east to FM 338|
|Cottle||US 62||South end of the South Pease River to the Childress County line|
|Cottle||US 62||FM 2876 north to the south end of the South Pease River bridge|
This project should be complete in three months, weather permitting.
