CHILDRESS – TxDOT will begin a project to rehabilitate a portion of US 83 in Collingsworth County on May 21.

This $4.1 million project will begin just north of the Salt Fork Red River Bridge and continue to Lutie, approximately 4 miles. The estimated completion date is mid-September 2018.

Contractor J. Lee Milligan Inc. will rehabilitate the roadway and add auxiliary lanes at various crossover locations. This project will begin on the northbound lanes, and traffic will be detoured just south of the Red River Bridge on US 83 and moved to the southbound passing lane with two-way traffic.

Motorists are urged to avoid distractions, obey warning signs, and watch for heavy equipment and construction workers.
