GUSTINE – The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will begin a mill and overlay project to resurface a portion of SH 36 in Gustine, Texas. The project will span from a 0.5 mile northwest of FM 1476 to approximately 2 miles west of FM 1702.
TxDOT awarded the nearly $1.5 million contract to Knife River Corporation of Waco, Texas. The project will begin as barricades are set June 17, 2019, and crews will begin milling and resurfacing on June 24, depending upon the weather. This will be a full width resurfacing, which will include shoulders, filling of roadway edges, joint work on bridges and replacement of guardrail. Weather permitting, work is anticipated to be complete by the end of July 2019.
Traffic control will include daytime lane closures with the use of a pilot car and flaggers within the work zone.
Motorists are asked to be alert, follow flagger instructions and adjust speed with any new traffic pattern during construction. TxDOT appreciates the patience of motorists and encourages attention to all warning signs within the construction zone while crews work diligently to complete this project as quickly and safely as possible.
