EASTLAND COUNTY – Texas Department of Transportation Brownwood District’s contractor began work on a cable barrier construction project along IH 20 in Eastland County Monday morning. Daily alternating lane and shoulder closures will occur in the eastbound lanes until the construction is completed. Westbound lanes will not be affected.
The project will add nine miles of cable barrier from the intersection of Loop 254 east of Ranger, Texas to the Erath County line. This will not include the Ranger Hill reconstruction project area (mile marker 356, just west of Ranger Hill to the intersection of SH 16). Cable barriers serve as an additional safety feature to protect drivers from crossing into oncoming traffic lanes along IH 20 and many other divided highways.
Motorists are encouraged to allow extra time when traveling in this area. Please slow your speed, pay attention to road signs and use caution in areas of construction.
Construction is anticipated to be completed approximately the first week of March 2020, weather permitting.
