TxDOT recently changed a traffic pattern on US 80 in Hallsville, creating a left-turn-only lane for eastbound traffic at FM 450.
"The previous traffic pattern on eastbound US 80 included a left-turn or through movement for the inside lane, a through movement for the middle lane, and a right-turn only for the outside lane. Due to recent changes in traffic patterns with the construction of the new high school north of US 80, we evaluated the current turning movements and decided to make some changes to the lane assignments," said Rebecca Wells, Traffic Operations Supervisor for TxDOT in Atlanta.
"We evaluated the traffic and reviewed crash data and decided to make an adjustment to the lane assignments. By separating the movements, it reduces the potential of crashes. So, when the highway was resurfaced this summer, we put the new traffic markings in place," Wells said. "We ask that all motorists use extra caution when traveling through this intersection as drivers become accustomed to the new traffic pattern."
