A section of Farm-to-Market Road 3129 in Cass County will receive a new riding surface during the coming year according to plans approved in June by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT).
“We will be resurfacing about 10.1 miles of FM 3129 from 7.2 miles north of FM 251 to FM 249 East,” said Paul Wong, area engineer for TxDOT in Texarkana. “The old pavement will be removed, the base materials strengthened, and the entire roadway will be repaved.
“We will also be adding safety end treatments and upgrading the metal beam guard fences along sections of this highway from US 59 to SH 77," Wong said.
RK Hall of Paris, Texas, was awarded the contract for the construction project with a bid of $9.2 million.
Work on the project should begin in September of this year and take about 14 months to complete, Wong said.
