Maintenance repairs will be made to seven bridges along Interstate 20 in Harrison County during the next two years according to plans approved in May by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT).
“We will be making repairs to the concrete decking, making necessary repairs to the structures, and replacing bridge railing as needed,” said Ray Brady, area engineer for TxDOT in Marshall. “Bridges scheduled for this work are at Loop 281 in Longview, County Road 3110, Sewell Creek, FM 968, FM 3251 and State Highway 43.”
Some of the work will require the roadway over I-20 to be closed, and traffic will be detoured around the work until it is complete at that location, Brady said.
Highway 19 Construction of Sulphur Springs, Tx., was awarded the contract for the construction projects with a bid of $2.1 million.
Work on the projects should begin in August and take about 21 months to complete, Brady said.
