Three intersections in Harrison County will have improvements made to their traffic control systems this year, according to plans approved in March by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT).

“Two of the projects will be in Marshall on US 80 (Grand Avenue). We will be upgrading the signal lights at the intersections of Grove (FM 1997) and Bolivar Streets,” said Rebecca Wells, district traffic engineer for TxDOT in Atlanta. “The other project will be in Longview at Loop 281 and I-20 frontage roads where we will be upgrading the signal lights and installing flashing yellow arrow lights and adding safety lighting.”

Texas Traffic Control Systems, Inc. of Dike, TX was awarded the contract for these traffic control projects with a bid of $381,550.

"Work on the projects should begin in June of this year and take about four months to complete," Wells said.
