A section of US 271 north of Mount Pleasant will receive a new riding surface this summer according to plans approved in March by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT).
“We will be resurfacing a 7.7-mile section of the highway from Farm-to-Market Road 1896 to Bus. 271” said Bill Compton, area engineer for TxDOT in Mount Pleasant.
R.K. Hall of Paris, Tx., was awarded the contract for the construction project with a bid of $2.5 million.
Work on the project should begin in June and take about four months to complete, Compton said.
