Notice of Availability of Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for FM 1488 Magnolia Relief Route

Purpose:

TxDOT has issued a finding of no significant impact (FONSI) for the proposed FM 1488 Magnolia Relief Route from existing FM 1488 to proposed SH 249 in Montgomery County, Texas.

Description:

The proposed Magnolia Relief Route project would construct a four-lane (two in each direction) divided highway on new location. This construction would include grade-separated overpasses at FM 1774 and Union Pacific Railroad (UPPR) and at the proposed SH 249. The construction of the roadway would be from existing FM 1488 west of Magnolia to the proposed SH 249 east of Magnolia, a distance of approximately 5.4 miles. The proposed project would require approximately 155 acres of additional right of way (ROW) and would potentially displace 11 residential properties or associated outbuildings, two commercial structures, one storm water detention pond and one utility facility, depending on final design. ROW acquisition would be conducted in accordance with federal guidelines.

Copies of the FONSI Document and the approved Final Environmental Assessment are available for public inspection and reproduction at the TxDOT at the Houston District Headquarters, 7600 Washington Avenue, Houston, Texas 77007, (713) 802-5000, and online.

Memorandum of Understanding:

The environmental review, consultation, and other actions required by applicable federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried-out by TxDOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated December 16, 2014, and executed by FHWA and TxDOT.
