Notice Affording an Opportunity for a Public Hearing - US 54
| Purpose: | TxDOT is proposing to improve US 54 (Patriot Freeway) from Hondo Pass Drive to Loop 375 in El Paso County, Texas. The total distance of the project is approximately 3.0 miles. This notice advises the public that TxDOT is affording an opportunity for a public hearing on the proposed project. | ||
| Description: | The proposed project consists of the addition of two main lanes (one in each direction), bridge widening over Diana Drive, and the reversal of exit and entrance ramps on US 54 between Hondo Pass Drive and Loop 375 in El Paso, El Paso County, Texas. The reversal of exit and entrance ramps would create new entrance ramps where exit ramps previously were, and new exit ramps where entrance ramps previously were. The proposed project also includes intersection improvements at three locations (Hondo Pass Drive, Diana Drive, and Loop 375), as well as bike/pedestrian improvements.
No additional right of way or easements would be required, and no residential or non-residential structures would be displaced. The proposed project includes work within a FEMA designated 100-year floodplain. However, the proposed project would not encroach on a wetland or other water body. Any interested party may request a public hearing covering the social, economic and environmental effects of the proposed location and design for this project. Requests for a public hearing must be submitted in writing on or before March 30, 2017 to the TxDOT El Paso District Office. The environmental review, consultation, and other actions required by applicable Federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried-out by TxDOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated December 16, 2014, and executed by FHWA and TxDOT. |
