Public Hearing - SH 36

Where: Brenham Elementary School
1000 W. Blue Bell Road
Brenham, TX 77833
When: Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2014
Open House: 5 p.m.
Presentation: 6 p.m.

Purpose: TxDOT will hold a public hearing to present proposed improvements to the intersection of SH 36 from US 290 to Business SH 36 in Brenham.

Description: Proposed improvements include widening SH 36 from two to four lanes, from US 290 (West Main Street) to BU 36 (North Park Street) in Brenham. State highway improvements along SH 36 are needed to improve safety, enhance mobility and improve traffic flow.

The project would also include replacing the existing bridge over the Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR), Little Sandy Creek, Benton Drive and Lounge Road to meet current design standards. Two new bridges would be constructed for northbound and southbound traffic. An entrance and exit ramp west of the bridges and a U-turn under the bridge on the west side would also be constructed. No additional right of way will be required, and there would be no displacements.

TxDOT staff will display the plan and will be available to discuss the project; a presentation will also be provided. The public is encouraged to attend and provide comments. Please review the Dec. 12, 2013 open house materials for more information.
